For public information – police in many countries report regularly and every day to the Interpol in Leon, France, about loss/ theft of passports of citizens.
These reports automatically enter the border inspection database all over the world.

In case that an Israeli citizen reports to the Israeli or local police about loss/theft of his/ her passport, but afterwards finds his/her passport, he/she has to bear in mind that his/her passport has already been reported to the Interpol as lost/ stolen and entered the database as such.
Therefore, he/ she cannot use this passport again, and in case he/ she uses this passport he/ she is expected to be detained in exit/entrance of border inspection in many countries.

In this case, it is the responsibility of the citizen to issue a travel document in the nearest Israeli mission/ representative office.
